Massage Therapy

Camilla Alexander has been a practicing massage therapist since 2004. Shortly after being introduced to bodywork during high school, she began her professional studies at the Mendocino School of Holistic Massage Therapy and Advanced Healing Arts in Redwood Valley, California. She later earned her degree for licensure through the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Boulder, Colorado.

Camilla's contact is intuitive, deep, yet also gentle and informed. Her therapeutic touch brings over 15 years of  experience to the table.  Her aim is to meet your particular area(s) of concern, discussed prior to your session, to most effectively address your intention for coming in.

Some techniques offered include: normalization of soft tissue (NST), Swedish style for relaxation, integrative massage for the whole being, injury rehabilitation, reflexology, and myofascial release. Camilla has worked with many issues concerning the neck and low back, with increasing mobilization and helping to reduce pain experienced at joints throughout the body (TMJD, knees, shoulders and feet to name a few). Her work can help build energy and reduce stress and enhance overall well-being.

Camilla has experience with oncology clients, people with disabilities, athletes, teens and elders.

How can Massage Therapy support me?

Massage therapy can support the healing and recovery process in many ways -not to mention be relaxing. Massage reduces inflammation and aids the immune system's natural ability to detoxify and release metabolic waste. It increases blood flow to scar tissue and otherwise 'stuck/knotted' adhered tissue, unwinding these constricted areas while helping to restore their natural alignment. When the body is more at ease, this of course translates to other areas of life too, how lovely.

Sometimes Massage and Bodywork simply helps us remember how to take better care of ourselves and feel supported during times of stress so that we get more rest, good hydration and the natural immune-boosting benefits it provides. In conjunction with Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Massage therapy helps to nourish a healthy autonomic nervous system (encouraging rest and relaxation as well as healthy movement & motivation). Massage and craniosacral therapy together help to increase the body's capacity for self-regulation as well as co-regulation (finding ease, calm and harmony within the presence of another/others). Co-regulation is like gold during times of stress, change and recovery, as we are reminded that we do not have to navigate stress alone. Instead, we uncover a reservoir of health within ourselves, and promote it in others, guiding all involved toward a more enjoyable life in the little ways that matter most.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with your questions. Camilla will do her best to answer them and looks forward to offering you therapeutic bodywork along your journey of healing and well-being.
